Birth Rate:
The green sea turtles can lay about 50-200 eggs at a time! The newborns will hatch 45 to 70 days later. And, it takes the newborns about 20 years to be matured and grown up. If you look on the previous page, it will show you a exponential growth graph of the species.
Death Rate:
The green sea turtle's projected lifespan is about 80 years. Some live older, and some die early due the causes listed below:
- Plastic bags thrown on the beach. [Green sea turtles think this is a jellyfish. They eat it and it blocks their digestive system and die.]
- They are killed by humans for food and/or leather.
- They are eaten by a predator. [Sharks, specifically the Tiger Shark]
